barb's broccoli & ham egg dish

12 slices wheat bread
¾ pound sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 head of broccoli, cleaned and cut into small pieces
2 cups diced ham
6 slightly beaten eggs
3 ½ cups milk
2 Tablespoons minced onions
¼ teaspoon dry mustard

  1. Cut out the inside of each slice of bread with cookie cutter. Fit the (outside) scraps of bread in the bottom of 9 x 13-inch pan.
  2. Add a layer of cheese (keeping some for the top), broccoli, ham and onion over bread.
  3. Arrange cutouts on top.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine eggs, milk and mustard, and pour over the top.
  5. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  6. Bake uncovered at 325 degrees for 55 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle remaining cheese over top, bake another 5 minutes.
  • Serves 12 Total Time: Overnight + 1 hr. 5 min. Difficulty: Easy
