jill's incredible red sangria


First, Make Simple Syrup:
* 3/4 cup water
* 3/4 cup sugar
Bring water to a boil. Turn off heat. Add sugar and stir until it dissolves. Cool.

The Rest:
* Red wine, 2 bottles (the same)
* Brandy, 3/4 cup
* Triple Sec, 1/2 cup
* Orange Juice, 3/4 cup
* 1/2 cup water
* Orange, 1 1/2, sliced into THIN rounds, seeds removed
* Green Apple, 1 1/2, cored and chopped into small pieces
* Lemon, 1 1/2, chopped into small pieces or sliced into THIN rounds.

1. Combine all ingredients into a large pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to two days. I've kept it for a week or more. It just gets better.
2. To serve, fill glass 3/4 full of ice. Pour sangria over ice. I like to use a straw.
