pecan pie

Pastry for 9-inch one-crust pie
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 cup corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 large eggs
1 cup pecan halves or broken pecans

1. Heat oven to 375 F. Prepare pastry.
2. Beat sugar, butter, corn syrup, salt and eggs in a medium bowl with wire whisk or hand beater until well blended. Stir in pecans. Pour into pastry-lined pie plate.
2. * Place a cookie sheet on the oven rack below pie, in case of overfill spillage.* Bake 40-50 minutes or until center is set.

Notes: spreads with at least 65% vegetable oil can be substituted.
