marie's refrigerator cookies

1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups (sifted) flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt

1. Cream butter, add sugar until light. Add egg and vanilla.
2. Sift together dry ingredients and add gradually to the butter mixture.
3. Roll dough into a 1 3/4" roll in wax paper. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours, or until ready to cook.
4. Slice roll into 1/8" slices and bake at 375 degrees on ungreased sheet for 10 minutes. Cookies expand when baking.
